Filtration system
The plant is used to filter yeast and unwanted trubs out of the
beer.
Once the system has been rinsed with hot water (86 °C) for approx. 30
minutes and then re-filled with cold water, the dosage tank is filled
with a mixture of cellulose and perlite. In the next step, this is
pumped into the filter vessel by a centrifugal pump until the 12
filter candles in the vessel have been enriched with the mixture. This
process step is repeated a second time, only changing the mixing ratio
of perlite and cellulose.
The water in the filter vessel is then displaced by the unfiltered
beer. A mixture of cel-lulose and perlite is included from the very
beginning to ensure that the filter cake is maintained on the filter
candles.
The filtrations process has to be stopped if the maximum vessel
pressure of 6 bar is reached or the difference between the inlet and
outlet pressure is 4.5 bar. In this case, the remaining beer is forced
out of the filter with water. The filtration process is com-plete once
the entire system is full of water and cleaning can then begin.
