Multirip saws are machines used in the wood industry mainly for
cutting piles, but not only. Machines of this type can cut boards into
smaller elements and cut lamellas. The principle of their operation is
very simple, the machine has a spindle located in a central point on
the horizontal axis, on which tools in the form of discs are
installed. Depending on the purpose, multi-rip saws can have one or
two spindles. In the latter case, the device has greater cutting
possibilities, comparing primarily the thickness of the material. An
additional advantage of machines with two shafts is the lower kerf.
Another major division of machines is the method of material feeding.
They can be separated into shaft feed and track feed. When cutting the
saw with a shaft feed, the material is moved through the upper and
lower shafts, depending on the design, they can be all or only the
lower shafts. In turn, devices with a caterpillar move the wood with
its help, and the rollers located in the body press the material
against it. The selection of the appropriate machine depends primarily
on the intended use. Consider whether only the pallet box elements or
boards made of expensive exotic wood will be cut. All of this can
influence the choice of the machine.
